Language Arts: The first page

This is actually the first page of a book, and it talks a little about how we think about language arts. Something i liked that it said was, "Focusing more on the component parts of language arts, rather than on language and language learning,". I think it easy sometimes to focus so much on the speaking part that we forget about the "component parts" of language arts. There are always more than one thing that needs to make up a subject as we see here with the two parts.
